Barbara Kathryn (Bush) Castaldi

Barbara Kathryn Bush Castaldi, 92, peacefully passed away on Saturday February 24, 2024 at Thrivemore Brookridge Nursing Center in Winston Salem, NC.

Barbara was born to Annetta Grace Bond Bush and Maurice Lydel Bush on September 30, 1931, in Tannersville, PA.

She had two brothers who were twins, Lydel & Lin and one sister Carmen. She was married to Philip Paul Castaldi, USN, New Jersey, for almost fifty years and had two children, Stephen Thomas Castaldi and Jennifer Katheryn Castaldi.

Barbara spent her early married years in Succasunna, NJ and moved to Tucson, AZ with her husband and children in 1970 and then 2 years later relocated with her family to Ormond Beach, FL where she lived for 45 years.

Barbara had a love for life and family that glowed with joy and pride. Her three grandchildren, Jessica Lee Thompson Dillin, Scott Lawrence Thompson & Brandon Thomas Castaldi were her most treasured loves. Barbara was extremely creative and artistic and had a passion for cooking and baking. Holidays were very important to her, and she always went out of her way to make them special for the family. Barbara leaves a legacy behind her that no one can follow.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents and siblings and husband and is survived by her children and grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many longtime friends.

Services will be held in the future in Daytona Beach, Florida where she will be buried next to her husband in the Veteran’s Section of Daytona Memorial Park.
