Cody Hendricks Obituary

Cody A Hendricks, of Winston Salem NC passed away on Tuesday, July 6th 2021. Cody was born July 12th 1982 and was 38 years young.  Left to cherish his memory is his mother Sharon A George, stepfather, Ronnie Hester, cousins William, Ebin and Tyler Dilbeck, along with many friends and brothers of the USMC.

Cody had wanted to be a Marine since the age of 10 and made that wish come true when he entered the USMC in 2002. He was awarded the Purple Heart while serving our country in Afghanistan. Cody was honorably discharged in 2007, but once a Marine always a Marine – Semper Fi!

Cody was well known for his love and care for his mother, family and friends alike. The humorous side of him could lighten up any room. He had that very distinctive laugh that would make others burst out laughing with him.  Anyone that knew him knew there were the many facial expressions of Cody and the hand gesture, the Shaka Sign, he gave everyone.  His talents were many which included Gunsmithing/Shooting, Woodworking, Body Building, and building/creating various things in a very artistic manor. He was fearless when it came to learning new skills. Cody had a passion for the outdoors and loved his time hiking, camping, and working outdoors. He would say that hiking and being in the wilderness brought him to a happy place and allowed him to reflect on his life and the lives of others.   Cody was a Christian with a strong belief in God and his Country. He read his bible regularly that his grandfather, William George, had given him to carry at the beginning of his duty in the USMC.

Rest Easy my precious son and a dear friend too many.  We miss you and love you forever.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

To Honor Cody he would have wanted more awareness being brought to supporting Veterans with PTSD and mental health.
