Mildred Ann Greene Fowler passed away at Village Care in King, North Carolina, on Saturday, October 21, 2023. She was born October 26, 1942, in Landrum, South Carolina, to the late James and the late Virginia Wagner Greene. She graduated from Cowpens High School in 1961, and married the love of her life, Monnie Ray Fowler, on September 2, 1961. They enjoyed life together until he passed on July 25, 2017. Together, they had one son, Dennis Ray Fowler, who preceded her in death on May 5, 2019, and one daughter, Janice (David) Coburn.
Since 2018, she lived with Janice and David, and enjoyed being a part of Bethany Baptist Church, where she was active in the quilting ministry, the choir, and her Sunday morning Bible study class. She also enjoyed sending birthday cards to her Bethany church family.
She was also preceded in death by a step-mother, Addie Greene, and a step-brother, Tommy Lowe. Other survivors include two sisters, Barbara Loden of Spartanburg, SC, and Janice (James) Peeler of Campobello, SC; a step-brother Joe Carroll (Brenda) Abernathy; a step-sister, Janice (Stephen) Fowler; three granddaughters, Ashley (Becky) Spiegelman, Bobbi Jo (Andy) Davis, and Amanda (Daniel) Huie; two grandsons, Michael Coburn and Daniel Coburn; and five great-grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life at Bethany Baptist Church, 600 Old Hollow Rd, Winston Salem, NC 27105, on Saturday, October 28, at 1:00 pm. The visitation will follow immediately after the Celebration of Life service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, designated for the Global Missions Fund.
