Rebecca Sturgill Obituary

Rebecca Steele Brown Sturgill, age 91, of King, went to be with the Lord on the morning of Feb. 7, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

She was born Aug. 24, 1931, in Amherst County, Virginia, to the late Edward Waller "Ned" Brown and Ruby Steele Brown.

Becky retired as a Legal Secretary, Office Manager and Bookkeeper for D. Blake Yokley, P.A. in Winston-Salem. She also enjoyed her position as Treasurer of her HOA in King during her retirement.

She was a friendly and welcoming face to her neighbors, and she never grew tired of spending time with her loved ones. Becky, also known as MaBeck by many, was always willing to offer help and encouragement to anyone seeking it. She was a dedicated grandmother and loved spending time with her two grandchildren. MaBeck was strong in faith and is at peace with her Lord.

She is survived by two children, George Edward "Ed" Sturgill of Winston-Salem and Robin Sturgill Bachmeyer (Rick), of King; two grandchildren, Olivia Bachmeyer and Elliana Bachmeyer; and her brother, Robert "Bob" Brown of Lynchburg, Virginia.

Becky will be laid to rest at Amherst Cemetery in Amherst, Virginia, with a private graveside service.

The family would like to recognize and thank Novant Health Palliative Care and those at Priddy Manor Memory Care who brought joy, love and laughter to her life while she was living there.
