Ms. Shirley Brevard of Kernersville passed away at the age of 73, peacefully in her home on January 26th.
Shirley, affectionately known as “OG” by all who knew and loved her, was born on February 17th, 1949 in Harlem, New York to the late Sammy Brevard and Lillie Mae Foreman.
Shirley received her education via the New York City school system, graduating from John Adams High School and later attending Business School.
Shirley married Charles T. Miller in January of 1968 and of their union, three children were born. Shirley also served as a mother figure to her extended relatives and youth in the neighborhood.
She enjoyed a loving relationship with her family, including her six grandchildren, and worked as an accounting clerk with MSAS Global Logistics for over thirty years.
During her retirement, she relocated from Queens, New York to Kernersville, North Carolina. Shirley loved to relax by putting together small and large jigsaw puzzles.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, her siblings, Betty, Sam, Jimmy, and Beluah, her grandson, Marcus, and her former husband, Charles.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Kisha, Charles Jr., and Antoine, her siblings, Harold and Bessie, and her grandchildren, Nicholas, Antoine Jr., Brandon, Xavier, and Brianna. Shirley also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, Lauren, Skylar, Kaliyah, Marcus, and Aubree, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that mourn her passing.
Shirley’s Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held from 4-7pm, Saturday February 18, 2023, at The Kernersville Community Recreation Center.
