Sundy Butcher Obituary

Sundy Kay Butcher

October 25, 1959 ~ April 25, 2022

Sundy Kay Butcher, 62 of Winston Salem died Monday, April 25, 2022 at Forsyth Medical Center after a period of declining health.

Sundy was born October 25, 1959 at Lowance Hospital (now: Lake Norman Regional Hospital) in Mooresville, NC to Saundra Braswell Spry of Kannapolis, NC and the late David Brown Edwards of Kannapolis, NC.  Sundy was preceded in death by former husband Mark Butcher of Winston Salem and step-daughter Michelle Butcher of Myrtle Beach, SC, grandparents Bernie and Velma Braswell of China Grove, NC and Ernest and Ola Edwards of Kannapolis, NC.

Those left to cherish her memory include her mother Saundra Spry of Kannapolis, step-father Ralph Spry of Salisbury, sister Leslie Palacio (Michael) of China Grove and nieces and nephews Jonathan Palacio of Gastonia, NC, Dakota Palacio of Christiansburg, VA, Hayley Palacio of China Grove, NC, Cory Hoyes of Newland, NC and Megan Dean of Ohio.  Sundy’s legacy and pride and joy include her son Anthony Butcher (Raelene) of Kannapolis, her daughter DeAnna Butcher (John) of Winston Salem, NC and her beloved grandchildren Owen, Levi and David.

Sundy graduated from South Rowan High School in China Grove, NC and later from American Business and Fashion in Charlotte NC.  She went on to be a manager at Eckerd’s drug store in High Point, NC.  She later worked for Bank of America, Cash America and American Greetings.  Sundy had a passion for dogs and ran her own kennel and raised Smoyed and went on to compete and win on a national level at Westminster as well as at other dog shows and later in her life she raised Chihuahuas.  Sundy never met a stranger and loved to talk and get to know people.  If she loved you, you knew it because she never missed an opportunity to show her love and support.  She was a firecracker and not afraid to stand up and speak her truth and she was just as quick to offer her generosity and compassion.

We envision Sundy will spend some time on the rainbow bridge getting kisses from the dogs she’s raised over the years; Sugar, Bear, Babe, Lacey, Shane, Brandy, Freckles and many others before embracing family and loved ones.

The family will celebrate her life in a private service that will be held at the Outer Banks and her ashes scattered at sea.
