Susan Sloan Johnston

Susan Sloan Johnston passed away peacefully at Trellis Supportive Care on April 5, 2024.

She is survived by husband, Jeff Johnston, grandson, Samuel Johnston, brother-in-law, John Johnston (Rachel), sisterin-law, Diane Johnston, numerous cousins, and her loving caretakers, Janice King and Dawn Redding Martin.

Preceding her are parents, Fred and Helen Sloan, Grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry VonCannon, son, Thomas Johnston, and brother-in-law, Mark Johnston.

Susan graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School in Winston Salem, Class of 1972. She was employed with AT&T, and Hospice (now Trellis). She was a member of Unity Church. Susan enjoyed outings with her grandson, Samuel, retirement, her pets, visits to Shelton Winery, beach trips, and shopping trips in Boone- especially in the fall. She was goodhearted and a loving and faithful friend.

She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Many thanks to Dr. David Savage and Dr. Timothy Pardee, the nurses at the “Pods” for Susan’s care, Trellis Supportive Care, the Mocksville Fire Dept. for the “lift calls”, food from her neighbors, and Janice King and Dawn Redding Martin for the gift of their love with her “at home” care.

Godspeed, Susan, we will miss you always.

Susan requested that no service be held and her ashes spread in a special place. Donations may be made to Unity Church, 108 Hewes St. Winston Salem, NC 27103, or a place of your choice in memory of Susan.
